The question

"Why do I feel stuck even though everything looks fine?"

My answer

Because "fine" is the most disorienting place to be. It's not bad enough to justify a change, but it's not good enough to stop the quiet dread on Sunday evenings. That gap — between what you have and what you feel — is real, and it has nothing to do with gratitude or ambition.

What I hear most often is this: "I should be happy." That word "should" is doing a lot of work. It means you've built your life around someone else's definition of success, and the fit is just slightly off — like a shoe that looks right but blisters by noon.

Stuck isn't a personality flaw. It's a signal. The question is whether you're ready to take it seriously.

The question

"Is this a mid-life crisis, or something worth paying attention to?"

My answer

"Mid-life crisis" is a cultural shorthand for something much more precise: the moment your forward momentum runs out of borrowed meaning. The car and the affair are just noise. The signal underneath is legitimate.

What I've seen in 14 years is that the people who dismiss this feeling as a phase come back two years later, more lost. The people who sit with it — really ask what it's pointing toward — almost always find something they couldn't have named before.

So yes. It's worth paying attention to. Not because something is broken, but because something is ready to change.

The question

"How do I know if coaching is right for me, or if I just need a therapist?"

My answer

Therapy works on the roots. Coaching works on the branch you're standing on right now. Both matter, and they're not mutually exclusive — many of my clients see a therapist and work with me simultaneously.

The simple version: if you're trying to understand why you are the way you are, therapy is probably the right starting place. If you already have that understanding but can't seem to move — if you know the answer but keep circling the same decision — that's where coaching tends to break things open.
